From SATA-Peru-2007

Today proved to be one of the most exciting adventures thus far. Alcides took the SATA group up a narrow and winding mountain road to Tipon, the site of several Inca ruins. We were able to view first hand the incredible aqueduct system constructed several centuries ago by a civilization that sported neither the wheel nor what some would consider a written language.

As we hiked around and up past the ruins, we were mesmerized by the seemingly never-ending views of the gorgeous Peruvian Andes. After our hike, we settled down on one of the many Inca terraces to enjoy our lunch under the warm rays of the sun; listening to the sounds of the running water.

A flat tire on our way back to Cusco caused a minor delay in our return, but allowed for a fun card game using the smallest deck of cards I have ever seen. In all, we were grateful to Alcides for bringing us to Tipon; affording us the opportunity to view a sample of the physical remnants of one of the many achievements of the impressive Inca empire.
