Office: Digital Curriculum Center, Blaustein 108, x5006, fful@conncoll.edu. Responsibilities include:

  1. Manage the Digital Curriculum Center (DCC)
    1. Four others have the key to the DCC: Janet Hayes, Chris Penniman, Diane Creede, Marisa Catagno.
    2. Software for the DCC is kept in Frank's office and in the back closet. Adobe and Macromedia serial numbers are kept in the second shelf from the bottom, on the left when you first come into Frank's office. Older software is kept in the black cabinet and in the back closet.
    3. Frank's work laptop, MacBook Pro, is backed up weekly to an external firewire drive in Frank's office, labeled "fful BU". No other information is on this drive. Software used is Apple Backup.
  2. Configure software and hardware, and help support the Advanced Technology Lab.
    1. Current software and serial numbers for the ATL are kept in the locked cabinet in the ATL. Some older software is archived in the back closet in Frank's office. Older Adobe and Macromedia serial numbers are kept in the same location as for the DCC.
    2. David Baratko is overall manager of the ATL. Jeff Gada assists in maintaining the ATL, and supporting its users.
  3. Assist in supporting Digital Enhanced Learning Initiative (DELI) technologies, development and use.
  4. Configure, manage and support MediaWiki and the instructional wikis, provide faculty development and support (nutmeg.conncoll.edu, in Frank's office).
  5. Configure, manage and support two video servers (video.conncoll.edu and larch.conncoll.edu, in Bill Hall). "video" used also for live streaming of WCNI.
  6. Configure, manage and support the Podcast Server on video.conncoll.edu
  7. Configure, manage and support file server (tulip.conncoll.edu, in Bill Hall), with Filemaker Pro Advanced Server. Connected to XServe RAID.
  8. Configure, manage and support Retrospect Remote server, keel4 (DCC)
  9. Configure, manage and support Mac Mini QuickTime Broadcaster live encoder for WCNI (DCC)
  10. Admin passwords and additional information on the above servers and services is kept on Frank's desk in a white notebook. Backup admins for servers in Bill Hall are John Schaeffer and Kevin Northcutt, who also have additional support materials.
  • Internet 2 technologies
    • Support configuration and use of 8 Internet2 subnet ethernet ports: Dilley Room (2), DCC (3), Blaustein 203 (1), Blaustein 210 (1), Blaustein 212 (1). Work with Network Administrators to resolve bandwidth and firewall issues.
    • MPEG2 streaming, 24/7, from Visionary Solutions appliance to Internet2. Located behind video rack in DCC. Will convert to H.264 streaming in Fall 07.
    • Intenet2 Cart, includes dual boot (Mac/Win) Mac Mini, receives multicast video on Internet2 using VLC, running continuously during the week. Also includes PolyCom Viewstation H.323 for videoconferencing. In DCC, but can be moved to any classroom in Blaustein.
    • Configured and technical support for Polycom videoconferencing in Dilley Room.
