iPhoto for image management on local computer for Mac OSX

iPhoto is included with all Macintoshes

Use for directly importing photos from camera
Use for importing images already on the computer to iPhoto (drag and drop to an album)
Add/remove keywords in Preferences. Images can have more than one keyword.
Easy to find images by using the Keywords panel, just select the keword(s), the images will pop up
iPhoto does not watch folders, like Picasa
Create an album by dragging a folder of images into Source List
Drag an image from another drive, CD, etc. to import into iPhoto, and create a copy
Can create "smart albums" that automatically update to images with keywords, ratings, etc.
Can compare two photos side by side, zooming and scrolling
Image editing is non-destructive, original image can be restored
Can export: original file, reduced size, compressed, to web pages.
Can export to QuickTime movies
Can back up iPhoto library to other media
