Image Manipulation
From Acorn
- Ensure your image file and Word document are available on the computer.
- Open Photoshop.
- Go to File>Open. Find your image and click “Open”.
- Select the Crop tool, make a selection. This can be changed by dragging the small boxes.
- Hit Enter to crop.
- Go to Image>Image Size. Select:
- Scale Styles, Constrain Proportions
- Resample Image: Bicubic Sharper
- Resolution: 150 dpi
- Document height: 5”
- Use the magnifying glass to zoom in and out, if needed.
- Go to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast. Adjust these.
- Go to Filter>Sharpen if you think it will help
- Save as “your-image-name-b.jpg”, quality High. Do not overwrite the original file.
- Open Microsoft Word 2007.
- In Office Button>Open, open your document, place the cursor in the location you want to insert your image
- Go to Insert>Picture, find your image, and insert.
- Right-click on picture, go to Format Picture, Layout>Square, Alignment Center.
- Additional resizing can be done in Word.
- When you are done, save your document, (make sure it’s a Word 2003 “doc” and not a “docx” extension)
- Save another copy as a PDF, go to Office Button>Save As>Adobe PDF. Remember where you are saving your file!
