Basic instructions for MIV Dual-boot MacBook

  1. This computer automatically boots up in Windows XP. To boot up in Mac OSX, hold down the Option key right after pushing the on button. This will let you select the operating system.
  2. When using Windows, the OPTION key is the same as the ALT key.
  3. BEFORE booting up the computer, or AFTER you are logged in, connect the USB mouse and headset.
  4. Log in as "intech", no password, THIS COMPUTER
  5. Click on the NITLE MIV shortcut on the desktop. This will take you to all the NITLE rooms.
  6. Click on the room you want to enter. You may have to wait a bit for something to happen. When a dialog box appears asking you to download a file, click OPEN.
  7. Enable your videocamera and microphone when ready (icons in lower right)
  8. We often use audio loopback for testing, but it's better to turn it off during a conference. Go to Tools>Opetions>Audio, and deselect Audio Loopback.
  9. The USB headset has a mic mut button on it, and a headvolume control. Volume is also controlled on the computer, both with the MIV client and the computer's volume control.
